Let The Games Begin

Splatter Pope

Have your week been as busy as mine ? Even thought I'm a bit exhausted my mood is still rather excited, since I found out that my enrollment for the qualifying examination for the study path of gamedesign was accepted. So I'm focusing this weekend on completing a letter of motivation and a curriculum vitae, all that boring things, which would be my last preferred weekend activity.

If I'm currently not drawing, I'm probably drawing right now.
But stick with me a minute, there is great new stuff upcoming. Since I'm aware that there is a possibility to follow my studying path I was painting concept art restlessly all the weeks through for my portfolio. So I would guess you will be damned to get bombed with my paintings for the next weeks. Also your profit: I can already see how my drawing skills increased, because of excessive training.

So I was wondering, if you're maybe interested in a non-traditional recorded drawing. I'd love to hear your opinion!

Drawing And Stuff

Hello Internet,
There was once a famous photographer who went to a restaurant. The cook recognized the man and said to him 'You're taking such great photos, you must have one of the best cameras'. The photographer ordered some food and went, after eating it, to the cook and said 'The dinner was fantastic, you must have the best cookware in the world'.

Talking about this story I would like to share a photography presentation with you, my girlfriend and I did. The project is called HI&LO and was a hell load of fun, last but not least, because I smashed a guitar at the end of the presentation. The pictures were a closure work in photography we did together, which was presented for over 70 people from the College for Engineering and Design in Mönchengladbach. We earned an surprising amount of praise for our work, which was a welcomed victory after too many night shifts.

However, you can find the complete
lowkey part in a new flickr set here.

HI&LO - 013By the way:
I drew and recorded Link from Zelda and Valentina from the Super Mario RPG and uploaded the videos on YouTube. You can find both in my channel or by following this links:

Don't forget, that you can still hand in your suggestion of what, game related, shall get drawn next. I'd love to hear your ideas, so just let me know inside the comments.

I WANT YOU

No, really, I mean it. Since I'm drawing every day at least one sketch, I'm interested to turn this into a new project. It's free and everyone can apply by sending me a message or an email to hello (at) vasburg (dot) com.

The idea is to gather new inspiration (Since inspiration is such a long word you can call it inspi, if you want) on my way to becoming a gamedesigner. I will draw characters for you, record the process and upload it on YouTube, including the scanned file of the picture. For now every drawing will be realized as a traditional painting with a good ole pencil, that means black and white. The only requirement is that the "thing" you want to get drawn is a video-game related character or unit. So, what are you waiting for ? Hand in your wishes today and get your character drawn. Did I mention how much it costs ? It's free!

Saturday Sketch Night

Ever wondered how many character sketches can be done within one hour ? My personal record is 19, overall 19 of 64 which were drawn during my little Saturday Sketch Night. Even though this event isn't present anymore it caused a surprising rush and was featured on buffed.de (Yeah, this blog was former called Internet Hooligan).

However, I wanted to keep this awesome memory alive by importing the pictures and the post into the new blog. As for me this was an exhausting but also fun-experience to hang around on livestream, while drawing peoples characters live. Feel free to download the files of your characters here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ahcator3mao3o4v
